Things to do on barra

Barra and Vatersay provide visitors with a large range of activities.

Sea-kayaking is becoming an increasingly popular pastime.  We have an organisation on Barra which introduce you to this sport –

Barra has a golf course! It may only have 9 holes but it is the most westerly course in the British Isles and has views of the Atlantic Ocean which you won’t find elsewhere!! To find out about playing this course, please go to

Cycling is a great way to see the island, breathe the sea air and catch glimpses of the wildlife. If you can’t bring your own bikes with you (many do), you can hire cycles from:

In the summer season, you can take a boat trip around the Bishop’s Isles to see the deserted islands of Mingulay, Pabbay, Sandray and Barra Head with its lighthouse. It is sometimes possible to land and spend time on Mingulay. For more information, please go to
